How we match

Which treatment is right for you?

The honest answer depends on what you have already tried. This is how a provider reasons through it during your consultation.

  1. 01

You have not tried medication for depression yet

    Start with medication management

It is the least invasive place to begin, and roughly half of people improve on a first well-chosen antidepressant. We evaluate properly, then actually measure whether it is working.

  2. 02

One or two antidepressants failed, or the side effects were intolerable

    TMS therapy is usually next

TMS is FDA-cleared for exactly this situation. No medication, no sedation, nothing circulating in your bloodstream. Most insurance plans cover it once two medication trials have failed.

  3. 03

Several medications have failed and symptoms feel urgent

    Spravato, sometimes alongside TMS

Spravato is taken here in our office under two hours of monitoring. Unlike an oral antidepressant, many patients notice a shift in mood the same day rather than six weeks later.

  4. 04

Focus and follow-through problems that depression never fully explained

    ADHD testing before anything else

Untreated ADHD is often misread as depression, and treating the wrong one costs you months. We run a computer-based attention test and take a full history, then give you a written evaluation you keep.

TMS therapy in Sacramento

Transcranial magnetic stimulation uses focused magnetic pulses, similar in strength to an MRI, to stimulate the area of the brain that regulates mood. You stay awake the whole time, there is nothing in your bloodstream, and you can drive yourself home after. We also offer Accelerated TMS, an off-label option that condenses a full course into as little as one day.

Spravato (esketamine) in Sacramento

Spravato is a prescription nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression. You take it here and stay for two hours of monitoring. It acts on a different brain system than oral antidepressants, which is why many patients notice a shift in days rather than weeks.

ADHD testing in Sacramento

A real diagnosis, not a fifteen-minute questionnaire. We pair a computer-based attention test with a full clinical history and rule out the conditions that imitate ADHD, then hand you a written evaluation you can take anywhere.

Medication management in Sacramento

A proper psychiatric evaluation first, then ongoing care with a clinician who tracks whether the medication is actually working. We score the same standardized measures at every visit, so changing a dose is a decision rather than a guess.

Common questions

What people ask before they call

If your question is not here, call (916) 800-4363 and a person will answer.

Spravato is typically the fastest, with many patients noticing a shift in mood within days. TMS usually takes around three weeks before a change is clear. Oral antidepressants generally need four to six weeks to show their full effect.

For most plans, yes. Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna and Evernorth, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Carelon, Hill Physicians, Medicare, and Sutter Health Plan cover TMS for major depressive disorder once at least two antidepressants have failed to give adequate relief. We verify your benefits and complete the prior authorization before your first session, so you know your cost before you start.

No. You can book a consultation with us directly. If your primary care provider or therapist prefers to refer you, they can send a referral and we will send a summary back to them after your evaluation.

You do not have to decide. The consultation is a full clinical evaluation. We ask what you have already tried, what happened, and what your symptoms look like now, then recommend one path and explain why. If nothing we offer is the right fit, we will tell you that and point you somewhere useful.

Sometimes, yes. For severe treatment-resistant depression a provider may combine them, or start one and add the other. That is a clinical decision made case by case, and it is one of the advantages of having every treatment in a single practice rather than referred out.

Our clinic is at 4440 Duckhorn Dr, Suite 420, in the Natomas area of Sacramento, CA 95834. We regularly see patients from across the Sacramento region, including Natomas, Roseville, Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Arden-Arcade, and West Sacramento.

Not sure which one
you actually need?

That is exactly what the consultation is for. Tell us what you have already tried, and a provider will tell you which of these fits, or whether none of them do.
